Support to small farmers, safe food and nutrition, free medical camps, maternal and child health services and health awareness.
Agriculture and health are two sides of the same question: what a family eats, and what it spends when someone falls ill. In our working areas both are decided by the same small margin of income, so we run them as one programme.
Agriculture
- Training for small and marginal farmers on modern, low-cost and low-chemical cultivation.
- Seed, sapling and fertiliser support for seasonal vegetables, fruit trees and homestead gardens.
- Homestead nutrition gardens for landless and near-landless households, especially those headed by women.
- Livestock, poultry and fish farming support, with vaccination camps and basic veterinary linkage.
- Safe food practices — reducing pesticide misuse and promoting organic compost.
- Market linkage so that farmers can sell without losing most of the price to intermediaries.
Health
- Free medical camps with general physicians, and specialist camps for eye, diabetes and blood-pressure screening.
- Maternal and child health — antenatal and postnatal awareness, safe delivery referral, immunisation follow-up and child nutrition.
- Blood donation programme and an emergency donor register.
- Health-card and hospital referral support for patients who need treatment beyond the camp.
- Awareness campaigns on dengue, diarrhoea, tuberculosis, nutrition, sanitation and adolescent health.
- Medicine support for chronically ill patients from very poor households.
How we work
Health camps are organised together with the Upazila Health Complex, local hospitals and diagnostic centres, and every camp keeps a follow-up register so that patients who need referral are actually contacted afterwards.
Our goal
To improve household nutrition and reduce out-of-pocket health spending for poor families through prevention, early detection and access to basic services.
