Scholarships, coaching support, school materials and digital learning for children and youth from low-income families in and around Narail.
Education is the first bridge that Setu Bondhon Foundation builds. In the villages where we work, children rarely drop out because they do not want to study — they drop out because a family cannot afford books, a uniform, an examination fee or a private tutor. Our education programme removes those small but decisive barriers, one student at a time.
What we do
- Merit and needs based scholarships for students from the sixth grade up to university, renewed every year on the basis of results and attendance.
- Education material support — books, notebooks, school bags, uniforms, geometry boxes and examination fees.
- After-school learning centres where volunteer teachers give free coaching in Bangla, English, Mathematics and Science.
- Digital literacy sessions that introduce students to computers, the internet and safe online learning.
- Reading corners and small libraries in partner schools and community centres.
- Career and admission guidance for higher secondary students, including help with university admission forms.
How we work
Every applicant is verified by a local committee of teachers, guardians and Foundation volunteers, so that support reaches the family that needs it most. Progress is reviewed twice a year with the school, and each scholarship holder is paired with a mentor who stays in touch through the academic year.
Who this programme is for
Children of day labourers, farmers, fishermen, domestic workers and single mothers; orphaned and disabled students; and any bright student whose education is at risk because of poverty, illness in the family or a sudden disaster.
Our goal
To make sure that every child in our working areas completes at least secondary education, and that talented students from poor families can continue to college and university.
